Casper Shipping Awarded King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade

Teesside-based Casper Shipping, the UK’s leading independent maritime services organisation, has received the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in recognition of its significant global growth and outstanding contributions to the UK’s export economy.

The award was presented during a visit to the company’s River Tees facilities by Jo Ropner, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for North Yorkshire, and Bill Scott OBE, CEO of Wilton Engineering.

Michael Shakesheff, Group Managing Director, described the award as “a culmination of over 152 years of maritime excellence” and a reflection of the company’s commitment to its strategy of “Always on”—a mindset focused on innovation, opportunity, and client service. Shakesheff credited the award to Casper’s employees, customers, and stakeholders.

Casper Shipping has expanded its global reach through services including logistics, chartering, port agency, customs, and defence, bolstered by the recent acquisition of Johnson Partners. This strategic move strengthens the company’s capabilities, enhances operational efficiency, and offers integrated, scalable solutions.

The award highlights Casper’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and technological investment—essential as the maritime sector evolves towards green practices and digital transformation. With this accolade, Casper Shipping is well-positioned to lead international trade into the future while honouring its Teesside roots and maritime heritage.
