MGT Teesside Ltd owns and operates the Tees REP in Teesside, UK.
The Tees Renewable Energy Plant will produce 2.3 TWh of low carbon electricity every year. Enough to power 600,000 homes, as well as supplying heat for nearby users.
Biomass for the Tees REP has to meet strict sustainability criteria regulated by Ofgem and is traced from point of origin. We use co-products from timberland that is primarily for growing saw-timber. We use the parts of the tree that are too small for timber, and chips from the saw-milling process. On average the biomass is worth less than 7% of the total harvest value.
